# Switch from Salesforce to Migaru in four steps

> Export your accounts, contacts and opportunities, import each file in a minute or two, and connect your inbox. There's no admin to hire and nothing to configure beyond your stages and fields: Migaru fills in two years of email and meetings around the records you brought.

## The move at a glance

- **Four steps** from the first export to a connected inbox.
- **A minute or two** to import a file of tens of thousands of rows.
- **Two years** of email and meetings, read back from each mailbox.
- **Undo** any import from its history, if a column went to the wrong field.

## Salesforce to Migaru, step by step

1. **Export your records from Salesforce.** Export accounts, contacts and opportunities from Salesforce as CSV files, with a report or Data Loader, and include each contact's account name so it links to its account. Nothing connects to Salesforce, so nothing there changes while you move.
2. **Set up your stages and fields.** Name your deal stages exactly as your opportunity stages are named in Salesforce, and add a field for each custom field you want to keep. The importer maps onto fields that already exist, and a stage only comes across if Migaru has one spelled exactly the same way.
3. **Import each file.** Import accounts as accounts, contacts as contacts and opportunities as deals, up to 50,000 rows a file. Columns named like one of your fields map themselves, and where it can, Migaru suggests a field for the rest for you to check. Every import is logged and can be undone.
4. **Connect your mailbox and calendar.** Each person connects Gmail or Outlook along with its calendar, and Migaru reads back up to two years. Conversations land on the records you imported: contacts are matched on email address and accounts on the domain of their website, so https://www.acme.com and acme.com are the same account. Anything that still looks like a duplicate is flagged for you to merge.

### After the move, if you want

- **Add your call transcripts.** Drop in the transcripts your recorder exports, several at a time. Migaru files each one on the meeting it belongs to, making one when your calendar never had it, or on the account or contact when it can't be sure, and lists any it can't place for you to attach. It reads each one for commitments, unless the person who uploaded it keeps only who and when.
- **Rebuild the automations you still need.** Describe each rule in a sentence: what triggers it, the conditions, and what to do, such as set a field, create a task or notify someone. Migaru reads the rule back to you before it is created. Workflows come with Pro and above.

## What comes across from Salesforce

| In Salesforce | In Migaru |
| --- | --- |
| **Accounts** | Accounts. One already in Migaru with the same website is filled in rather than copied. |
| **Contacts** | Contacts. A company column links each to its company's account, made if there isn't one, and a contact already here with the same email address is filled in rather than copied. |
| **Opportunities** | Deals, each at the stage with the same name. Nothing identifies a deal, so import the file once, or undo the first run before a second. |
| **Activity history** | Read again from each person's mailbox and calendar, up to two years back. |
| **Lookups between records** | A contact's account comes across, as its link. Others, such as an opportunity's account, don't. |
| **Flows and automation** | Rebuilt as workflows on Pro and above, each described in a sentence. |
| **Reports and dashboards** | Asked for in a sentence and answered live from your records, on Pro and above. |
| **Territories, quotes and approvals** | Not in Migaru, which is a CRM for founders and small teams that sell. |

## What you gain by leaving Salesforce

### Running without an admin

Accounts, contacts, deals, meetings, tasks and notes come ready, and you add the fields and stages your process needs yourself. Nobody has to be hired, or a partner paid, before your team can use it.

### The AI is in the price

The agent is on every plan, answers from your records, email and calls with the source behind each answer, and costs nothing extra to ask. There are no credits to buy.

### The record keeps itself

Every outside thread and meeting is filed on its contacts and account, and summaries and last-contact dates stay current, without anyone logging an activity.

### A price for a small team

Starter is $35 per user per month, for 1 to 3 users, and Pro is $399 per month for the workspace, for up to 5 users, with the agent on both.

## Frequently asked questions

### How long does it take to switch from Salesforce?

Four steps. Each import runs as soon as its columns are mapped, taking a minute or two for a file of tens of thousands of rows, and each person connects their mailbox and calendar in a couple of minutes. Reading two years of email and meetings carries on in the background, a batch every fifteen minutes, while you work.

### Which Salesforce export should I use?

A report or Data Loader, for the records you're moving, since either can include each contact's account name. That name is what links a contact to its account in Migaru, making the account if it isn't there yet.

### Does Migaru need a Salesforce admin to run?

No. The objects come ready, you add fields and stages from settings yourself, and the record fills itself from each person's mailbox and calendar.

### Can we keep using Salesforce while we move?

Yes. Migaru never connects to Salesforce, so nothing there changes while your team moves across. There's no sync between the two either, so pick a day to stop entering data in Salesforce.

### Does our email history come across from Salesforce?

Not from Salesforce: Migaru reads it from the source instead. When each person connects Gmail or Outlook, up to two years of email and meetings are read back and filed on the records you imported.
