# Try changes in a sandbox

> On Enterprise, copy your workspace to try new fields, pipelines and workflows where nothing is sent or synced, then promote what works.

A sandbox is a copy of your workspace to try changes in before anybody else sees them: new fields and pipelines, a workflow, a sequence, a dashboard. Nothing in a sandbox reaches outside it, and what works there can be promoted back to the live workspace, item by item. Sandboxes come with Enterprise.

## Make a sandbox

An owner or admin makes one under **Settings → Sandboxes**: give it a name and choose **Make a sandbox**. A workspace can have 3 at once. Tick **Bring a sample of records** to copy the 1,000 most recently changed records of each object, with the links between them.

It copies the data model (objects, fields, stages and pipelines, calculated and conditional fields, relationships), views and lists, workflows, sequences, dashboards, skills and knowledge, and everybody in the workspace with the role they have there. Records bring nothing but their fields: no timeline, emails, meetings, transcripts or files. Operations arrive paused.

Open it from the same screen, or from the workspace menu, where it says whose sandbox it is. A band across the top of every screen in a sandbox, and **Sandbox ·** in front of every tab’s title, keep anybody from taking it for the real workspace.

## What a sandbox can’t do

No mailbox, calendar, Slack, Zoom, notetaker, Outreach mailbox or connector is copied, and none can be connected in a sandbox. It can’t bring records across from another CRM, look anything up from Lusha, invite anybody, share a page with a guest, publish a page or share a record by public link. A workflow’s **Send to a URL** step writes what it would have sent into the rule’s run instead of sending it, and **Add to Outreach** adds nobody. Sequences write no drafts, since there is no mailbox to put them in.

Workflows, operations, the agent and fields that fill themselves all work, so you can see what a change does. Model calls in a sandbox are limited to $20 a calendar month, shown under **Settings → Sandbox**; past it, the agent and everything else that writes with a model wait for the next month. The live workspace isn’t affected. A sandbox can make its own API keys, so a script can be tried against it.

## Promote changes

Inside the sandbox, **Settings → Sandbox** lists what has changed since the copy among objects, fields, relationships, workflows, sequences, dashboards and skills, each marked **New**, **Changed** or **Removed**. An owner or admin of the live workspace ticks what to keep and chooses **Promote**. Something new brings what it needs with it, such as the new object a field is on, and a new object brings its fields.

If the same thing has changed in the live workspace since the copy, it is left alone unless you tick **Replace the live one**. Removals are never promoted: removing a field takes its values with it, so remove it in the live workspace yourself. Records never go back.

## People, limits and billing

A sandbox’s people are the live workspace’s. Nobody can be invited into one, somebody removed from the live workspace leaves its sandboxes too, and **Add them here** under **Settings → Sandbox** brings in anybody who joined since the copy. A sandbox takes no seat and is billed nothing. It holds up to 10,000 records of its own, which don’t count toward the live workspace’s limit.

If the live workspace leaves Enterprise, becomes read-only or is being deleted, its sandboxes can’t be opened. An owner or admin deletes a sandbox at once, from **Settings → Sandboxes** or from inside it; the live workspace and anything promoted to it stay as they are.
